The Freedom & Justice Foundation

The Freedom & Justice Foundation (TFJF) was birthed out of a passion to address the 21st century human rights issue of human trafficking. Human trafficking is modern-day slavery, and there are an estimated 20-30 million slaves around the world today, more than at the height of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Our founder, Mary Lou Cole, first felt the burden of this global issue in June 2012 and began to get involved in addressing the crime in Southeast Michigan.

On November 26, 2014, TFJF was founded as a 501c3 nonprofit to expand efforts to eradicate human trafficking and support the lives of its survivors. Kyleen Edwards and Jacqueline Lawler joined the Board of Directors, each bringing extensive experience in both the professional and nonprofit arenas.
