The Market

Cory Muro (owner) opened Valley Kitchen & Bar in 2011 with his wife Blair (owner). Two years later in 2013, he opened Tomato Bar Valpo with his best friend Jeff, followed by a 2014 location in Schererville. And so, clearly, a 2015 concept was born in order to keep this ambitious trend going.

Enter The Market, where Cory and Blair’s passion in using local ingredients and dedication to delivering a quality product continues. Together with Jason Rudy (owner), who worked at Strongbow for eight years before serving as executive chef at Valley for three years, they are eager for this fresh challenge.

Our desire lies in bringing back the Valley lunch format, fast and casual, where you’ll order and find a seat in a warm and welcoming communal setting. Cory and Jason craved a menu inspired by the sort of comfort food they’d expect from their southern grandmothers. It will showcase popular picnic choices such as smoked meats, fried chicken, sandwiches and sides, complete with an array of kid-friendly options.
