More about The Oppenheim Group

The brokerage is comprised of a close group of talented realtors, led by the firm’s President and Founder, Jason Oppenheim. With more than $200 million in active listings, the firm closes more than one hundred deals annually and has brokered many of the City’s largest residential sales, including numerous record-breaking transactions. Located on the prestigious corner of Sunset Blvd. and Sunset Plaza Dr., The Oppenheim Group is the dominant brokerage in the Hollywood Hills and Sunset Strip, while doing tremendous business throughout Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Bel Air, Malibu, and beyond.

Founded in Hollywood by Jason and Brett Oppenheim’s great-great grandfather Jacob in 1889, The Oppenheim Group represents five generations of real estate brokerage services in Los Angeles.

Jacob was one of Hollywood’s founding residents and an influential real estate figure of early Southern California, residing on a five-acre parcel at the now world famous corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine St. On this land he would develop one of early Hollywood’s most grand estates and its most prestigious hotel, The Hollywood Plaza Hotel. Vine Street would later be named after the vineyards growing along the east side of his property.

In 1913, the horse barn at the southwest corner of his property would host the filming and premier of the world’s first major motion picture, The Squaw Man, and become the headquarters of the world’s first movie studio, Paramount Pictures. The barn, considered the birthplace of the movie industry, is preserved as a California Historical Landmark and currently houses the Hollywood Heritage Museum. The lease of Jacob’s horse barn to Paramount Pictures and the development of Hollywood Plaza Hotel marked the beginning of Hollywood as the entertainment capital of the world.

Subsequent generations of the family have continued to impact the landscape of Los Angeles through the development and brokerage of hundreds of residential and commercial properties from Hollywood to the Pacific Ocean. In the 1970’s the family was the largest developer of government housing on the West Coast, in the 1980’s co-founded and managed a successful multi-billion dollar commercial real estate investment fund and in 2006 created The International Investment Fund. Since the 1980’s, The Oppenheim Group’s primary purpose has been providing high-end brokerage services to the residents of Los Angeles.
