The Press Bar & Parlor sits on some very historical land. One could say it was the birthplace of St. Cloud. The building is the 2nd oldest in St Cloud. Originally known as Acadia, (or “upper town”) St. Cloud’s first business sat on the very spot well over 100 years ago. Joseph Edelbrock’s General Store occupied the site where Joseph not only ran the store, he also acted as the first Postmaster, Mayor, Alderman, County Sheriff, Register of deeds, and U.S. Marshal. He built the building out of wood in 1855. The building also housed the first post office, the first St. Benedictine mass, and first school room that taught a whopping 10 students. The original building was torn down and rebuilt with wood and red brick and is what we still known as the Press Bar building. Before officially being called the Press Bar & Parlor in 1942, then owned by Fritz, “Fritzie” Frank, the building was used as D.B. Searle’s law office, a cigar store, a beauty parlor, retail and liquor store, pool hall, apartments, and most importantly, the St. Cloud Times, hence the name “The Press”.Since the mid-70s The Press has had a national, if not international, reputation for being one of the best night clubs for live Rock and Roll music. Today that legend lives on and in addition, the Parlor upstairs is a favorite for club-hoppers featuring live DJs and dance music with a state-of-the-art sound and light systems surrounding a beautiful dance floor overlooking the St. Germain mall and Mississippi River amidst many TVs, a pool hall, darts and foosball room. Are you a person who loves to eat and have fun? The Press bar and Parlor is the right place for you. Try out our amazing food while you have fun with your family and friends.
