The founder of our firm, Theodore M. Byxbee, was born in Peekskill, NY in 1860 and a year later his family moved to Meriden, CT.
Theodore was named after a relative who served in the Civil War as an officer of the 27th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. Theodore's
father, John C. Byxbee, was the High Sheriff of New Haven County prior to service with the United States Treasury.
Theodore followed his father into federal government service. He worked his way up in the Treasury Department and spent his last four
years of government service supervising all treasury agents throughout New England and the Middle Atlantic States.
In 1919, Theodore left the Treasury Department and began the firm of T.M. Byxbee Company.
Theodore Byxbee died on June 4th, 1922 after an illness of several months.
The firm has proudly continued to bear his name since that time, and we look forward to a 100th year celebration in 2019!
