TOSSA MANOR

"Tossa" is the Latin translation for "VIEW FROM ABOVE"

Tossa Manor is currently owned by Jeremy Marvin. He bought the house from Marcia Davis. She bought the house from the Edwards family in the early 1990's. The Edwards Family bought Tossa Manor back in the late 1920's. Jeremy is still working on the history of the house and is attempting to identify the original owner of the home. But with the Lowndes County Probate Office burning several decades ago, most of the records were lost. Jeremy was told by one of the previous owners that the original owner and builder of Tossa Manor also owned and built the Fort Deposit Depot. He built Tossa Manor on Church Street, so that he was on top of the hill and could look down at the then main road, Jones Street, and see that business was being conducted normally at the depot. This is where Tossa Manor gets her name from.

Jeremy is working to remodel the entire home, virtually by himself and with the help of others. He plans to put Tossa Manor on the Historic Register, but needs more information and history on the home before he can do so. If anyone has any information on Tossa Manor, or even pictures from way back in the day, Jeremy would love to have copies of anything you would be willing to let him have.
