The Department of Surgery has 115 clinical and research faculty members, 98 residents & fellows in ACGME accredited positions; 22 fellows and visiting scientists, 202 staff members, and 156 affiliated clinical faculty members (numbers may vary). In 2010, our surgical procedures and clinical visits were 46,025 and clinical revenues were approximately $25 million.

Patient care is carried out on five campuses: University of Washington Medical Center, (UWMC); Harborview Medical Center (HMC); Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA): Seattle Children’s Hospital, (SCH); Northwest Hospital, (NWH); and the Veteran’s Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System (VA). Within the Department of Surgery, our specialities cover General Surgery (Adult and Pediatric), Cardiothoracic Surgery (Adult and Pediatric); Plastic Surgery (Adult and Pediatric); Transplant Surgery (Adult and Pediatric); and Vascular Surgery. In addition, the Department of Surgery encompasses Trauma Surgery and the region’s only Burn Center. The Trauma and Burn programs are located at Harborview Medical Center, the premiere Level 1 Trauma Center in the region and a leading Trauma Center in the USA and internationally. Each of our specialty areas is on the leading edge. With premiere faculty, expanding facilities and technology and superb teamwork, we are able to deliver excellent care to our patients and the finest education to our residents and fellows.
