More about U.S. Army USI ROTC

University of Southern Indiana ROTC leads and trains cadets to meet the Army's leadership requirements to commission as 2nd Lieutenants in the United States Army.

Army ROTC is an elective curriculum you take along with your required college classes. It prepares you with the tools, training and experiences that will help you succeed in any competitive environment. Along with great leadership training, Army ROTC can pay for your college tuition, too. You will have a normal college student experience like everyone else on campus, but when you graduate, you will be an officer in the United States Army.

Fall FTX
Fall FTX, conducted at Wendell Ford, Kentucky, evaluates land navigation skill proficiency, introduces cadets to the Situational Training Exercise (STX) method of leader evaluation and training, and provides an opportunity for cadets to experience an obstacle course and the rappel tower.

Spring FTX
Spring FTX, conducted at Camp Atterbury, IN, is the final proving ground for cadets bound for Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) at Fort Lewis, Washington. Squad STX lanes are conducted and evaluated identical to what the cadet will experience at LDAC. Basic Course Cadets complete a confidence course, an obstacle course, and a paintball battle day. Once again, land navigation skills are tested both day and night. Variable lanes are also included, offering a cange from the standard STX lanes. The Spring FTX is a joint training exercise between all Army ROTC programs operating in the State of Indiana.

Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC)
Every Army ROTC Cadet who enters into the Advanced Course attends the Leader Development and Assessment Course. It's a four-week summer course to evaluate and train all Army ROTC Cadets. This course normally takes place between your junior and senior years of college, and is conducted at Fort Lewis, Washington. Those who attend LDAC at the end of their senior year of college will receive their commission after successful completion of LDAC.

Leader's Training Course (LTC)
The Leaders Training Course is a leadership oriented, challenging and motivating 5-week training program which serves as the Army's 2-year ROTC Program entry point. Here, you can experience and examine the Army without incurring an obligation, and qualify for Advanced Course entry if you didn't take the ROTC Basic Course. During the Leaders Training Course, the Army observes and evaluates you to determine your officer potential.
