Valley EMS

The City of Valley, AL is located just off Interstate 85 before it crosses into Georgia.
The Chattahoochee River separates Valley from the state of Georgia. Valley was organized in 1980. This organization combined the communities of Shawmut, Langdale, Fairfax and Riverview. In the late 1800’s textile mills were built here due to the proximity of the river which was used for generating power for the mills. Like all textile towns, the mills closed and jobs were moved overseas.
Valley has a population of 9500. The City is governed by a Mayor and Council form of Government. In addition to providing ALS ambulance coverage on a 24/7 basis, there is also a parks and recreation department that includes a modern community center with indoor pool facilities, basketball courts, handball and weight equipment. A large sportsplex offers numinous outdoor ball fields. State wide tournaments have been held in all facilities. The City also maintains a Public Works department and a well-equipped and modern police department.
The Chattahoochee River provides recreation in the form of canoe and kayak trips down the river. There are two low head dams located on the river that were once used by the textile mills.
The City is rich in Heritage and would be a welcome break from the Interstate. Use exit 79 or 77 on Interstate 85 and enjoy the rich Heritage located in Valley, AL.
