As a tutor, I view the teacher-student-parent relationship as a team. We will make a plan together and I will tailor my tutoring specifically for your child’s needs. The relationship is most successful when all parties are in unison working toward clear, obtainable and agreed-upon goals. It is also vital to have clearly delineated benchmarks of success with buy-in from all team members.

In addition to content information, I motivate, coach, challenge, and provide continuous feedback to students. The wonderful byproducts of achieving our goals are excellent study skills, interpersonal skills and higher self-esteem. My hope is that I can ignite a passion for lifelong learning in your child and that I have helped him or her to the point where I am, happily, no longer needed.

About Me
Originally from Vancouver, Canada, I called Santa Barbara home for 10 years receiving my B.A. from UCSB and then teaching and owning a yoga studio in town. My Wife, daughter and I recently returned to Santa Barbara.

After obtaining my Masters in Education from Columbia University, I moved to Los Angeles and taught fourth grade, teaching all subjects and running my own after school tutoring groups. I have teaching credentials in both California and New York. I tutor Language Arts, Math, Science and Social studies at the K-6 level.

I love working one-to-one with children because it allows me to tailor my teaching specifically to the needs of the learner and to work in concert with the rate of their growth. I also value the profound relationship that develops when I am able to spend quality time focused on the individual. I have always had great relationships with students, parents and staff and I place great emphasis on strong communication and meaningful relationships.

When I am not being a proud dad, coaching tennis or tutoring, I enjoy playing tennis and basketball, surfing, reading and traveling.

I am available Monday through Saturday, day and evening, and can schedule tutoring sessions as needed with a 24-hour notice.
