More about 168 Film Project

168 simply means 7 days X 24 = 168 hours (or a week). It’s long enough to make an 10-minute film and short enough that people can work for free. The goal is artistic excellence through real-world experience.

Artists compete for cash, prizes and introductions. Hollywood pros involved include Zach Levi; Star of “Chuck,” Ralph Winter; Producer, “X-MEN” and Howard Kazanjian; producer of “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” and "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

To start the 168 Film Project competition, verses are randomly selected. Because teams cannot write before the verse assignment, they must depend on divine inspiration. Cast and crew brainstorm on their Bible verse to unlock it's meaning and discover its relevance for today. In time, this will change the fabric of Hollywood.

Teams get 10-days for pre-production (writing, casting, locations and schedules) and exactly 168 hours to shoot and edit.

To win, artists must deftly weave the foundational verse into their story.

The 168 Film Festival is the crown jewel, where artists get to be seen and receive awards in over 20 categories of artistic and technical merit, including Best Actor and Actress.

Write of Passage is a new short screenwriting contest. The best of these scripts become films, making 168 more like a micro-studio, commissioning great works of art and helping them come to life. Today they make shorts; tomorrow; feature length films.

Top scripts compete for $1,000 cash, prizes and Hollywood introductions and expert critique from writer/producers Luke Schelhaas ("Law and Order," "Smallville") and Brian Bird ("Not Easily Broken").
