70x7 Life Recovery Muskegon focuses on training, mentoring and employment for those who have a felony in their background, but are committed to future success!

For classroom training, we utilize "JobsforLife", a 2-week intensive classroom program that teaches the core character competencies necessary for those returning to the work force. In the class, participants learn handling conflict resolution, perseverance, taking responsibility, and effective communication skills. JobsforLife addresses the purpose of work and the character traits necessary to achieve employment success.

For Group Mentoring, participants volunteer with group mentors from local churches and nonprofits. They are evaluated on timeliness, attitude, work ethic, ability to work independently, and other soft job skills. In Serving Together, participants are led by a group of mentors, serving alongside them, guiding them to success.

For 1-1 Mentoring, After the successful completion of Serving Together and JobsforLife, a participant is prepared to enter the New Day Staffing employment pool. A 1-1 Mentor is then matched with the participant and connects weekly with the mentee, providing coaching and encouragement, role modeling, friendship, and guidance.

For Employment, our internal staffing company, New Day Staffing, opens up job opportunities so that our participants are able to support themselves and their families. For a NDS participant, this is critical to life change. Yet, for someone who has a criminal past, finding an employer willing to give them a second chance is very difficult. According to a recent study, 65% of employers surveyed stated they would not “knowingly hire a person with a criminal record, regardless of the offense.”
