Sheriff K.P. Gibson, the 8th Sheriff of Acadia Parish, is a 25 year veteran of law enforcement. He began his career in 1991 with the Lafayette Police Department working the North Lafayette patrol zones, serving as a field training officer in the FTO program and as an investigator in the Criminal Investigations Division. He also served as a member of the department's SWAT team as a hostage negotiator. In 2002, K.P. was elected as Chief of Police for the city of Crowley. During his tenure as chief, his department grew in many ways. Modern technology improvements were made, a fleet management program was begun, and the first narcotics unit was created. Starting pay for his officers doubled during his administration. As your Sheriff, K.P.'s focus is to serve the citizens of Acadia Parish to the best of his ability. Accountability and a proactive approach to law enforcement is his number one goal.

It is the mission of the APSO to be responsive to the calls for services from its citizens regardless of the nature of the call or the standing of the caller. It is also the mission of this Office to be fiscally responsible, to keep its citizens abreast of matters affecting their safety, cooperating with the media, continuing education of deputies, implementation of modern technology, and cooperation with local, state and federal agencies in matters of mutual interest.
