Aces JROTC Battalion

The Aces Army JROTC is a program at John A. Holmes High School that is both fun and challenging to be in. This programs mission is to motivate young people to be better citizens. This program was found by the 1916 National Defense Act. This program is a great example of teamwork, leadership, achievement, and challenge. We do things like march in parades, present the flags ( colors ) at football games, wear uniforms every wednesday unless specifically listed otherwise, and drill meets. We also have specific teams that we are in need of more people for like Raiders, which is a physical activity team where you compete against other Raiders teams in other schools to win trophies in things like push ups, pull ups, sit ups, v-sit reach, running the mile, and tug of rope. There is also the Marksmanship team which is a rifle team, you take a rifle safety test and then shoot every Tuesday and Thursday after school from 3:15-4:30 and there are postal's that are due and whoever does the best goes to compete against other schools. Finally, we have teams that are Exhibition With and W/O arms. With arms is more like a drill with creative rifle work thrown into it, and W/O is like a giant step team with military commands altered a bit. JROTC is a very fun extracurricular that you should really give a shot.
