More about ADU, Assistance Dogs Unlimited

Our Objective:
ADU provides physically challenged individuals with specially trained dogs which enable them to have a greater level of independence, confidence, security and companionship.

What is a service dog?
A service dog has undergone extensive training to respond to specific commands designed to assist people with mobility impairments. Service dogs can perform such tasks that include retrieving dropped objects, opening doors, turning on lights, dialing 911 and many other tasks of daily living. Service dogs allow those who are physically challenged the opportunity to live independently. ADU carefully selects each dog to ensure that it is compatible with the personality and needs of the client.

Our Program:
First, all of the dogs we train are rescues and are saved from being euthenized, typically between the ages of 1 and 2. Second, ADU's program is unique because we train our clients in their own environment rather then training in an off site location avoiding travel and other significantly stressful experiences. Third, all of our dogs are trained in real life experiences such as going out in public, shopping, movies, restaurants, work, and school.

We strive to educate the public. We welcome invitations from corporations, groups, charitable and public service groups. Please contact us to schedule a presentation.
