Advantage Health Centers

Advantage Health Centers/Detroit Health Care for the Homeless is a nonprofit agency committed to improving the health of the individuals and communities we serve. Advantage Health Centers receives significant funding through Public Health Service Act, Section 330, 42 U.S.C. 254b, and is therefore designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Because Detroit does not have enough primary care physicians to serve its population, it is considered a medically under served community. Advantage Health Centers helps meet this need by offering care to everyone regardless of insurance status or homelessness.


Services offered at Advantage:

Medical care for adults and children
Gynecology
Screening for HIV, breast and cervical cancer
Flu Shots ($10 for the public)
Prescription assistance
Social work services
Family planning
Laboratory services
HIV testing and counseling
TB Skin tests
Referral to substance abuse treatment
Referral to mental health treatment
Assistance in locating emergency/temporary housing
Pre-employment and sports physicals
