Who We Are And What We Do

Affirming Love Ministries (hereinafter referred to as ALMs) was founded by Reverend Laverne Simpson, in September of 2011.

ALMs is a non-denominational, radically inclusive, same gender-loving accepting and affirming church whose intent is to provide ministries for members to extend their servitude to the community, the body of Christ, family, and friends, and to glorify God through the utilization of their spiritual gifts.

ALMs had our first bible study on December 15, 2011 in the clubhouse at Sutton's Place Apartments and Townhouses in Southfield, MI, and continued weekly until the management company and winter weather no longer permitted.

We have since created a conference call line, and are now continuing Tuesday night bible study via telecommunications. Our dial in number is (605) 475-3220, and access code is 660822#.

On December 3, 2012, we started Sunday Afternoon Services at the Detroit Federation of Musician’s Building in Southfield, Michigan.

On February 20, 2013, God blessed us with our own building located at 9550 Oakland Avenue, Detroit, MI 48211.

In September of 2013, ALMs received its 501(c)3.

On July 30, 2015, by the grace of God, and assistance of Ghana Think Tank, LLC, we purchased our church building.

Each year, throughout the year, ALMs serves the community of Northend, Detroit through our feeding and clothing programs hosted by the ALMs Caring Hearts Ministry, members, and volunteers.
