Akron Mt. Zion United Methodist Church

We are a community of faith, called by God to live out that faith through service to others. We are called to become disciples by living in obedience to Jesus Christ and seeking to encounter God in worship. We will equip all members for ministry by teaching them how to discern, develop and deploy their unique spiritual gifts, thereby extending God's love to the community and minister people where they are.

Rev. Jacquelyn Sheely was appointed to Mt. Zion UMC in July 2011. She lives in the city of Lancaster with her husband, Scott Sheely. The Sheelys have two children and five grandchildren. Rev. Sheely, who prefers to be called "Pastor J.," specializes in children's ministries and woman's studies. Her previous appointment was at Salem United Methodist Church in Manheim where she was the associate pastor, director of Christian education, junior high youth group leader, and director of Salem Family Ministry - an outreach program that included help with rent and utilities, clothing, and used furniture.
