The United States Albany Military Entrance Processing Station has the unique and challenging mission of determining the physical, mental and moral qualifications of every new member of the armed services. It guards and defends our nation's Freedoms by insuring qualified applicants are selected to serve this great country. By taking an oath and entering military service, they realize that service to country often means sacrificing. . . perhaps ultimately. . . the very freedom's they protect.

USMEPCOM is the first joint military and civilian organization providing a gateway through which applicants enter the armed service. We are the "first impression". . . standards are high. While the door is open to everyone, only qualified applicants succeed. There is no back door. . . there is no other door.

For many young Americans, it is their first major career decision. Knocking on and walking through that door isn't easy, but they know that challenge and opportunity lie behind it as they voluntarily pursue a career in the service. Thousands of new service members proudly walk through that door every year. . . filling the ranks of our Nation's Armed Forces.
