Albemarle Senior Games

The Albemarle Senior Games (ASG) is sanctioned by the North Carolina Senior Games, which began in 1983 with a vision to create a year round health promotion and education program for adults 50 years of age and better. As a program of the Albemarle Commission Area Agency on Aging, our local game primarily serves Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Hyde, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell and Washington counties, but are open to all full-time residents of North Carolina. Each spring, participants can enjoy friendly competition with others in their own sex and age category within five year incrememnts. Participants can choose from over 40 events! We offer Bocce, Bowling, Cornhole, Horseshoes, Shuffleboard, Croquet, Tennis, Golf and much more! In addition to athletic events, we offer SilverArts. Participants can choose from 35 artistic categories to compete in including, Painting, Dancing, Singing, Writing, Woodwork, and even Cheerleading, just to name a few! Our local games are annually held in March, April and May. Qualifying participants are then eligible to compete at the state level in the fall. Every other year, state qualifyers are eligible to compete in the National Senior Games. For many years now, we have had 300+ participants with 200+ qualifyers for the NC Senior Games! We are very proud of our senior participants and look forward to the continued growth of our local game.
