Experience counts
There is no better training for many professions than experience in student government, and there are many ways to get involved and make a difference at Alfred University.
Student Senate meets weekly and is at the forefront of many discussions that impact our campus community.
Campus activism
For more than 30 years, AU's Student Senate has been instrumental in initiating changes and improvements on campus, from building renovations and campus safety to enhancing diversity programs. Major functions include
Providing an open forum for issues of student concern
Proposing constructive changes to promote student well-being
Distributing funds to other campus organizations
Electing or recommending student representatives for University and college committees
Organizational structure
The Senate is composed of elected representatives for various campus constituencies. The president and vice-president are chosen by campus-wide election. The rest of the executive board consists of the treasurer, secretary, and chairpersons for finance, diversity and publicity.
