Allegheny County Department of Human Services

DHS is responsible for publicly-funded human services in Allegheny County, including services for older adults; mental health and drug and alcohol services; child protection services; at risk child development and education; emergency shelters and housing for the homeless; job training and placement for public assistance recipients and older adults; and services for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
