Allegheny Mountain Institute,a 501c3 nonprofit, is an intensive, hands-on, cooperative, experiential learning and training program designed to teach members of our communities to grow and prepare their own food and to understand the nutritional benefits of eating seasonally.
Our Fellows work on permaculture projects, provide workshops, and partner with organizations throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Our goal at AMI is to promote skills that help individuals and their communities create a vibrant and accessible local food economy.
AMI's rural farm training site is located in Highland County and our AMI Urban Farm is located on the campus of Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind in Staunton, Virginia.
