Alpha Sigma Tau was founded at Michigan State Normal College in Ypsilanti, Michigan on November 4, 1899. The Founders of Alpha Sigma Tau National Sorority are Helene M. Rice, Mayene Tracy, Adriance Rice, Eva O’Keefe, May Gephart, Mabel Chase, Ruth Dutcher, and Harriet Marx.
Our colors are emerald green and gold. The yellow rose is our flower and the pearl is our National jewel.
Purpose of the Sorority has been to promote the ethical, cultural, and social development of its members.
Open motto: Active, self-reliant, trustworthy.
Our national Philanthropy is Pine Mountain Settlement School and our national service project is Habitat For Humanity International.
The Epsilon Gamma chapter was founded in May 2005 at Armstrong Atlantic State University. Our local philanthropy is Humane Society of Greater Savannah and our local service project is TOMS.
