Paul A. Gaines' (Owner/Operator) Bio

Paul Gaines has been performing structural repairs and aerodynamic performance improvements on composite aircraft since June of 1979. His interest in composite aircraft began in the early 70’s while “running ropes” at the Texas Soaring Association after a number of club members began to acquire Libelles, ASW-15s, Nimbus and Phoebus sailplanes.

After moving to the Atlanta, Georgia area in 1977, he learned of a composite aircraft repair facility north of the city, and began working as an apprentice for Brian Evans of Evans Sailplane Repair. During summer breaks while earning a Bachelor’s degree in business, he spent a number of months working at Glaser-Dirks Flugzeugbau in Untergrombach, Germany, and at the Raspet Flight Research Laboratory at Mississippi State University in prototype, repair, and manufacturing of composite aircraft. After college, he opened up his own business repairing and modifying composite aircraft.

Initially focusing on high-performance sailplanes, attention later turned towards other general aviation aircraft of composite construction. After rebuilding a number of Cirrus SR 20/22 aircraft he then acquired his own SR-22 rebuild project which he now owns and flies.

Paul recently relocated and expanded his business to Kingman, Arizona, where he built a 10,000 sq. ft dedicated composite aircraft repair and modification facility.

Paul currently owns and flies an ASW-20C, DG-800S, Cirrus SR-22, and a Phoenix FS-24 (SN 6).
