A.S I see it

I was born and raised in Blaine, MN. My love for art started at the age of 5 when I drew my first memorable picture of a puppy playing in paint (which I still have). It was then that my parents and I realized I had natural talent and from then on, I drew and painted as much as I could. At about 14 years old I won first place in a local teen’s competition in Blaine. And then at the age of 16 I entered a contest held by the Art Instruction Schools. Inc based in Minneapolis, MN. I won a full, 2 year, free scholarship and received the training that helped launch me forward. Drawing and painting has been the best way to express myself. It has been with me through thick and thin, and was my companion in the low points of my life.
It is my desire to help others to use their natural talent as a similar outlet for themselves, or to simply enjoy the process of learning something new. It can be intimidating to try and explore art in a world where there are so many successful artists being advertised on social media. It might lead us to believe we have no talent at all if we compare ourselves. I believe we are all a work in progress no matter how successful we become. Maybe you have some hidden talents you didn’t know were there.
