Introduction to Texas Buddhist Association德州佛教會簡介:

Texas Buddhist Association (TBA) is a non-profit religious organization. TBA adheres to the Buddha’s teachings and seeks to better the welfare of all by promoting the compassion and loving-kindness taught by the Dharma. 德州佛教會為不牟利之宗教社團。本會秉承佛陀教法﹐信仰三寶﹐弘揚正信佛教﹐以淨化世道人心﹐促進世界和平與人類福祉為宗旨。

Established in spring of 1979, Texas Buddhist Association has been actively spreading the Dharma, contributing to the community, and carrying out philanthropic activities for the past thirty plus years. Under the leadership of Venerable Wing Sing, Venerable Jan Hai and Venerable Hung I, and with the unwavering devotion of its over 1,000 supporters, TBA has grown steadily from Buddha Light Temple, to Jade Buddha Temple, and now to its most recently added venue, American Bodhi Center. 一九七九年春﹐德州佛教會在休士頓正式成立﹐為當時還是佛教沙漠的美南地區開闢了一幅新天地。三十多年來﹐德州佛教會始終秉持自力更生﹐不分宗派﹐弘揚正 信的佛法﹐關懷社區﹐服務人群的宗旨﹐先後在永惺法師﹑淨海法師和宏意法師三位住持的帶領下﹐以僧寶為領導中心﹐依靠廣大信眾的熱心護持﹐會員從十人左右 發展到目前的逾千人﹐經歷了從佛光寺到玉佛寺﹐進而邁向美洲菩提中心的三個里程碑。

Venerable Wing Sing was born in 1926 in Liaoning Province, China. At the age of twelve, he became a Bikku under Ven. Chiang Shio. 永惺法師於一九二六年出生於中國遼寧，法名演霖，別字永惺。十二歲隨常修老法師出家。

Venerable Jan Hai was born in 1931 in Tai County, Jiangsu Province. At the age of nine, he became a monk. He received the complete commandments in 1946. 淨海法師, 一九三一年生於江蘇泰縣，俗姓袁。九歲時在泰縣復興庵依灼然和尚出家，一九四六年受具足戒於寶華山隆昌寺，次年赴武進天寧寺佛學院就讀。

Venerable Hung I was born in 1955 in Yunnan Province, his family moved to Burma in 1957. He took vows at Chung Hua Temple under Ven. Shi Chen in 1962. 宏意法師俗姓姜，原籍雲南，一九五五年生。兩歲多時隨父母移居緬甸。一九六二年於仰光中華寺依洗塵法師出家。

Ven. Chao Ding was born in Tainan, Taiwan. At the age of fourteen, he took vows at Chu Hsi Zen Temple under Ven. Shu Miao. He is a good friend of Ven. Jan Hai and Ven. Hung I. They all share the same goal of spreading the Dharma and benefiting people. 超定法師出生台灣台南，十四歲出家，禮拜竹溪禪寺虛妙和尚為師。他與淨海法師和宏意法師法縁甚深, 齊心志在弘法利生。
