宜人的天候及優越的地理位置， 舊金山灣區向來是各地移民的首選之地， 而灣區的矽谷更是全世界高科技菁英雲集的重鎮。這裏除了優秀的專業人才， 豐富的企業資源及多所一流高等學府如史丹佛、柏克萊外， 也是佛光山在美洲第一個以文教中心為名的道場— 「佛立門文教中心」的所在地。 成立於2004年，佛立門文教中心是個全方位道場。秉持大師以”文教弘法”，這棟20000平方呎的二層建築物充分靈活地利用其空間設施，舉辦各種文教活動度眾利生，在人文薈萃、科技龍首的灣區矽谷，遍植菩提種子，期能有朝一日矽谷不但是科技產業的先鋒，更是人間佛教的典範。

Even more famous is the Silicon Valley located in the Bay Area, which is a gathering place for many high-tech professionals from around the world. Not only does this area have many highly talented professionals, an abundant wealth, and many world renowned educational institutions such as Stanford University and the Univ. of California at Berkeley, it also has the first Fo Guang Shan “cultural center” branch of its kind in the United States – the American Buddhist Cultural Society (ABCS).
