American Legion Post 597 was chartered March 15, 1947. It is located in downtown Carrollton, Texas. It has a membership upwards of
four hundred Legionnaires. In addition, American Legion Post 597 partners with affiliated organizations including American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the
American Legion, and the American Legion Riders.

The Post also hosts and partners with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8923
Kelsie C. Edington Memorial Post. The Post is one of the largest and fastest
growing American Legion Posts in North Texas and serves a large community
in Dallas and Denton counties.

Through its members, Post 597 pledges itself “to uphold, protect and defend
the Constitution of the United States and principles of true Americanism,
for the common welfare of the living and the solemn commemoration of
those who dies that Liberty might not perish from the Earth.”

The American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization,
committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our
communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national
security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
