American Medical Response (AMR) of New Haven Connecticut provides emergency and non-emergency medical transport service for South Central Connecticut. One of four original companies Founded on May 27, 1992. With decades of experience with our predecessor companies, we have grown to employ a diverse work force of over 400 paramedics and EMT’s responding to over 100,000 EMS calls annually. We pride ourselves in the strong relationships we have built within our communities and health care systems. Currently, the New Haven division of AMR has three substations in New Haven County located in New Haven, Milford and North Haven.

The New Haven division is responsible for providing the primary emergency and non-emergency medical transportation for the towns and cities of: New Haven, West Haven, Hamden, Milford, North Haven, East Haven, Orange and Woodbridge, with mutual aid responses to the towns of Bethany, North Branford, Branford, and Wallingford. Additionally, AMR New Haven provides quick response vehicles staffed by Paramedic responders to the towns of Orange and Woodbridge. Also, the division provides many specialty services including, but not limited to: neonatal and pediatric intensive care transports, critical care transportation, bariatric services and wheelchair services.

Yale New Haven Health System – providing critical care transport and scheduled discharge transportation to both the York Street Campus and Saint Raphael’s Campus.
Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital – providing specialized neonatal and pediatric transportation.
Smilow Cancer Center at Yale-New Haven – providing critical care transport and scheduled discharge transportation
VA medical center – Providing scheduled discharge, inter-facility and critical care transportation.

AMR New Haven not only services the community through emergent and non-emergent medical care but also takes pride in giving back to the community it services. AMR New Haven participates in community outreach events such as: Touch a Truck, Fantasy of Lights, The World CPR Challenge, Career fairs, YNHH Take your child to work day, YNHH Closer to free bike ride, March of Dimes walk, American Lung Association Fight for Air Climb and many others. Furthermore, the New Haven operation offers CPR and First Aid training to the local community.

AMR New Haven provides event medical coverage to the Yale Bowl, Quinnipiac University, Southern CT State University, University of New Haven, high school graduation ceremonies, and local sporting/community events.

The New Haven Operation houses the AMR Statewide Communication Center. This center houses System Status Controllers and Call-Receiving Operators for all 4 Connecticut divisions as well Hampton Roads, Virginia. This center handles 1,000 calls per day as the largest AMR Communications center nationally.

This Center has the ability to utilize resources from all four CT operations that are centrally managed in our communications center. AMR’s statewide resources include but are not limited to:
