More about American Renaissance Academy

American Renaissance Academy (the Academy or ARA) is a dynamic independent school serving grades K-12. The Academy’s campus is located in Kalaeloa (Hawaiian for ‘long point’), a suburb of the city of Kapolei, HI, USA.

The Academy’s campus sits on five-acres of property formerly occupied by the U.S. Naval Air Station Barbers Point. A dedicated learning space covering 12,250 square feet are framed by an organic garden, a six-lane, 25-yard above-ground competition pool and two outdoor weight rooms.

Academy classrooms are housed in a historic three-story building that formerly served as the commanding officer's headquarters. No more than sixteen students are assigned to a grade level/teacher, thereby providing each teacher with the flexibility to adjust their teaching style to best fit the dynamics of their students.

In 2010, the Academy added the School for the Performing Arts (FAME) for students in grades 6 through 12. Enrolled students attend core classes first, followed by specialized instruction in dance, vocals, acting, and performance.

Longer, full-time instructional days from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM ensure that students receive instruction in fine art, music, physical education, health, and world language. Students receive a "learning lab" teacher-assisted period each day which students may use to complete assignments, get assistance on lessons, or work ahead. Senior high school students in good standing have the option to accelarate their studies by earning dual high school and college credits.

We offer an international exchange program, "American Education + Culture" for students in grades K-12. Students should have a fundamental proficiency in American English. Fluency, although helpful, is not required. Students, however, must be willing to use English to engage with teachers and classmates.

The Academy is a 501(c)3 organization accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Hawaiʻi Association of Independent Schools (HAIS).
