America Corrales is the heart and soul behind America’s Taco Shop. She is the youngest of six children born in Culiacán, Sinaloa (Mexico). America spent the majority of her childhood by her mother’s side where they spent hours preparing authentic meals for the family. As a young girl, America developed a passion for using only the freshest ingredients and a devotion to the recipes passed down to her by her mom.

Sadly, when America was 14, her mother passed away and America moved from her childhood home in her native Culiacán to the US to be with other family members.

Years later in 1999, America met her future husband, Terry. He had 16 years of restaurant experience and shared America’s passion for authentic Mexican food. America and Terry dreamed about opening up their own restaurant. It seemed like a perfect match, for years America had envisioned sharing her mom’s recipes with the world and Terry had the know-how on how to run restaurants.

In October of 2008, their dream became a reality when they opened the first America’s Taco Shop in Phoenix, Arizona. Before long, the recipes passed down from America’s mom became local legend and America’s Taco Shop was known to have the “best carne asada” in the state. After finding success with their original location, America and Terry opened up two more restaurants in the Phoenix area. Today America’s Taco Shop not only has a huge following of loyal customers, but has also received accolades from both local and national media.
America and Terry knew they wanted to continue to share their love of food with the world.
