AMIkids Pensacola Escambia Boys' Base

Program Description:

The Escambia Boys Base (formerly known as Pensacola Boys’ Base) is a moderate-risk residential halfway house program, providing Mental Health Overlay Services (MHOS). Located on an active military installation, the program incorporates active military personnel from all branches of the Armed Service who provide one-on-one mentoring as well as group involvement and day-to-day contact. Youth who are at least 17 years of age and who meet academic requirements are provided the opportunity to attend the Naval Technical Training School located at Pensacola Naval Air Station. As part of the treatment curriculum, the boys are taught social skills and the evidence-based Consequences of Crime curriculum. Each boy is required to complete a 13-week Challenge Course and demonstrate practical skills in effective teamwork and problem solving.

The program incorporates Restorative Justice and the boys are involved extensively in community service with non-profit organizations in the Pensacola community, helping to support their causes and build their reputations. The staff members and youths give back to the community through such efforts as building homes for Habitat for Humanity and washing cars for the Feed the Children Organization. The program serves boys between the ages of 14 and 18, with an average length of stay between 6 to 9 months

Excambia Boys Base (school number 1740961) is a Type 3 program offering English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and one elective course. The elective course is typically used to provide additional reading assistance to needy students or vocational training.
