More about Andy Roddick's United Community Bank Mountain Challenge

Mountain Youth Charities Special Event Director Donna Nickerson today announced the Charity will host 2nd Annual Andy Roddick’s Mountain Challenge on July 25-26, 2014 expected to be held again at Cedar Creek Racquet Club in Cashiers, NC. Proceeds will be slated to fund the startup of a new Boys and Girls Club in the area as well as grants awarded to local children organizations.

Tennis Super Stars Andy Roddick and Jim Courier are back for round two and this year they are bringing their teams! Several area celebrities and some of the country’s top rising junior tennis players will be part of the event. In addition, two lucky tennis amateur winners will compete with Roddick and Courier to help determine whether Andy or Jim will win the 2014 Mountain Challenge Title.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to the mountains and on the court with Jim. You definitely don’t want to miss the rematch!” said Roddick

Andy Roddick has been one of the most celebrated athletes in the United States with his career including 32 ATP titles, a run of nine consecutive years in the Top 10, 45 Davis Cup Matches, including a victory in 2007, and a U.S. Open victory in 2003 and No. 1 World Ranking. “We are fortunate to have Andy as part of our community and most grateful for his willingness to lend his name and talents to The Mountain Challenge.” Said William McKee, Event Chairman.

Jim Courier is also back by popular demand! “Jim’s graciousness and kindness played a large part in the success of the inaugural event and we are so excited he has agreed to come back again this year” said Donna Nickerson: Event Director

Jim Courier in the early 90’s dominated the men’s professional tennis circuit with a game he fashioned out of grit, determination and a punishing inside-out forehand. He was the first in his class of American champions – which includes Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi – to hold the No. 1 world ranking.

More information to follow on the tennis exhibition and Friday evening’s special event hosted by Andy and Jim, a Southern Soirée featuring entertainment by the Grammy Award Winning and regionally recognized Steep Canyon Rangers.
