The Angel Park was an idea I had years ago. Members were appointed in 2007 to a committee which was established to create a public park to provide visitors and residents with a place of reflection for sitting and strolling.

Nick Dines, FASLA, Professor Emeritus Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning U Mass Amherst, donated the design and construction services to help bring the park to completion.

The park location is behind the Grange and Historical Building on town owned property, once site of the highway garage. It is strategically located within the village center and accessible by Mass Transit, auto, and pedestrian walkways.

March 2007 ground was broken and the area marked out. Excavating services were donated by "Corky" and Mark Baldwin. There were many volunteers, contributors of time, money and materials.

May 2007 a fund raising event was held and over $4000 was raised.
The angel statue arrived in town from North Carolina and was on display.
It was donated by B. Mango and bird.

In the spring of 2008 work resumed, shrubs, trees, perennials, benches and engraved bricks were added.

On Sunday, June 1st, 150 people gathered for the dedication ceremony.

There is a fund established at the Florence Savings Bank for the upkeep and ongoing care.

One of the strategies to help build this fund is collecting returnable cans and bottles at the transfer station. Labor for garden maintenance is donated by Nick Dines and the Dead-Head Society.
Thank you to everyone who has made this a reality.
