Antique Automotive

Antique Automotive of San Diego was started in 1963. Chris Carroll became the manager in 1975 when Carl Burnett who had first started the business retired and later he sold the business to Chris Carroll in 1983. Over the years, Antique Automotive became a destined location for the antique and classic car hobby. There was a parts department and a showroom with 50 antique and classic cars, decorated with signs, memorabilia, and even Libby's Classic Clothing that the ladies loved, a shop run by Chris' mom. The store also sold thousands of Classic Car Parts and antiques along with the many classic cars sold.

Antique Automotive became a mecca for the old car hobby. Chris Carroll started working for Antique Automotive of San Diego in 1972. He soon learned the business and became the manager in 1975. He totally revamped the parts department and in 1983 when he bought the business he started mail order with catalogs and wrote and published "The Complete Model A Parts Catalog". Also Chris had many classic car enthusiasts put their cars on consignment with Antique Automotive and many were sold to collectors from all over the U.S. and other countries too. The word spread that great classic cars and deals were to be found through Chris Carroll and Antique Automotive of San Diego.

In 1983 Chris Carroll bought Antique Automotive of San Diego which was started in 1963. Chris Carroll paid over a quarter of a million dollars for the business and had it paid off by 1993. He was then forced out of the original storefront by the previous owner Carl Burnett and his attorney who were trying to get the business. Chris Carroll then moved Antique Automotive and ended up with the business at 1515 4th Ave & 410 Beech. San Diego. This was a 1940's showroom in a prime location in downtown San Diego and Chris Carroll had many fantastic classic cars, muscle cars, exotics to hot rods and street rods and parts sold there until 2003.

Chris Carroll realized the internet was the wave of the future. Antique Automotive's tradition continues to grow with many antique and classic cars and special interest cars being sold worldwide through Chris Carroll's thousands of customers and on internet-based stores and sites.
