Aquinas College Summer Jazz Camp

Aquinas College Summer Jazz Camp, Grand Rapids, is open to all music students entering eighth grade through college, adult musicians, and music educators with all levels of skills and abilities. Camp is held from Sunday, June 16 through Friday June 21, 2013 and will take place in the Aquinas College Art & Music Center. Combos, big bands, faculty concerts, concerts featuring students with faculty, master classes, and electives: jazz theory & analysis, jazz composing & arranging, jazz styles & rhythmic exploration, jazz keyboard accompaniment, and jazz styles & performance techniques (interpretation and improvisation). Camp Instructors are Dr. Paul Brewer Camp Director, Trombone & Voice; Tim Froncek, Drumset & Percussion; Bob Nixon, Alto Sax and Big Band; Tom Lockwood, Electric & Acoustic Bass & Combos; Mike Hyde, Electric & Acoustic Guitar; Jonathan Nichol, Trumpet & Combo; Max Colley III, Trumpet & Combo; Jeff Ingraham, Trombone & Combo; Dr. Robin Connell, Piano, Keyboards & Composition. The instructors listed above are all recognized jazz masters whose careers as teachers and players are well established and widely respected. The camp cost is $250 (day camper) which includes all materials, classes, lunches, and camp T-Shirt or $450 (overnight camper) which includes all the day camper loot plus room and board.
