Arbala Haunted Woods

In the little bitty town of Arbala Dr. Abernathy was the only doctor around. He was a very kind and generous man. In the fall of 1892 and was in a hurry to go out to the Gregory's farm. Mrs. Gregory was about to deliver her 5th child. It was a dark eerie night and he lost a wheel off of the buggy causing the buggy to roll in the stream killing Dr. Abernathy. When the sun rose the following morning Mrs. Abernathy realized that he had not made it home she began to walk to the Gregory's farm. She was the first to come upon the accident. The townspeople loved Dr. Abernathy but went on their merry way as if nothing had happened. Mrs. Abernathy was left alone to take care of their farm and raise their children herself. You see legend has it that Mrs. Abernathy was a witch and that's why the townspeople shunned her, so she swore revenge on all of the townspeople. Slowly, townspeople began disappearing one by one. A year later a group of school children on a field trip disappeared. The townspeople searched all over for the missing teacher and children. After 3 days of searching they gave up hope for finding them. Seven days later one little girl wondered back to the road and was found by a farmer. She did not know where she had been held but described how the others were being tortured. She said there were people in cages, chained to trees and there was even an underground cellar. Every year several people would come up missing. There was many that disappeared including a husband and wife of the cafe, the prom queen, local logger, the butcher and many more. Personal belongings and bones have been found deep in the woods over the years, but the people have never been seen again. The disappearances increase in the month of October and it is rumored that every Halloween Mrs. Abernathy releases the spirits to reek havoc on the townspeople. If you listen closely sometimes you can hear faint screams. Only the brave at heart will come out and try to get a glimpse of the spirits. Just remember that only the trees can hear you scream.

Come out to walk our trail of horror. All begins at the Arbala community center where you can have concessions. You will take a hay ride deep down into the woods. You are then dropped off to walk the trail. The trail takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk. Unless one of or ghost chases you out!!!
