The PSA 2 AAA Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is mandated by the federal Older American's Act and the Older Californian's Act, to investigate and resolve complaints regarding care in long-term care facilities. Residents living in long-term care facilities have certain rights that are guaranteed by federal and state regulations. The Ombudsman Program advocates to protect and promote these rights and to empower residents to be self-advocates. Through public education, the Ombudsman Program seeks to promote a better understanding of the long-term care system of care. In sum, the Ombudsman Program provides information, advocacy, and assistance to resolve concerns regarding the quality of care in long-term care facilities.
