As a child, art was always a very important part of my everyday activities, and my favorite class in school. I knew I wanted to be an artist at a young age. Creating art and painting are my passion.
With an associate degree in commercial art and a bachelor degree in studio art, I work as a curator for The Wayland L. Jenkins, Jr. Fine Arts Center at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.
As a part-time Social Artworking consultant, I enjoy teaching adults and children alike. It is exciting to see the satisfying expression on the faces of the children and adults after they have painted or created something they did not think they could do. Social Artworking is a wonderful activity that brings people together to create and have fun. You do not have to be an artist to paint. Anyone can do it. I use simple language, not fancy lingo when instructing Social Artworking classes. The student goes away with a sense of satisfaction, a new confidence, and a great painting.
My motto, borrowed from a dear departed friend and mentor: “Remember, everyday is a good day for ART! Now, let’s paint!
