Asano Taiko U.S.

Asano Taiko U.S. is a full-service taiko (Japanese drum) facility in Torrance CA offering a walk-in store, on-site taiko maintenance and repair, and hands-on taiko classes. It is the North American offshoot of Ishikawa-based Japanese drum maker, Asano Taiko, founded in 1609, and now the largest drum maker in Japan. Asano Taiko instruments are used by professional taiko groups throughout the world including the seminal ensemble, Kodo.

The new Torrance facility is the first storefront outside Japan dedicated to Asano Taiko instruments and related equipment. The store will also feature instruments by up-and-coming American maker, Kato Taiko. On-site repair will provide north-American taiko groups with professional maintenance and taiko skinning.

The facility is also home to Los Angeles Taiko Institute (LATI), a full-time taiko school offering courses to both beginning and experienced players. Taught by professional taiko perfomers, classes are offered every day of the week. A hub for advanced taiko pedagogy, the Institute offers 12-week courses, multi-day intensives, and one-time workshops on a wide range of taiko arts.
