Assumption Parish School

Dominican Sisters of Kettle Falls, Washington opened Assumption Parish Catholic School in 1959. This order’s charism is based on four pillars: prayer; study; community; an apostolate. In the first year our school opened, Assumption educated students in first through fifth grades. Steadily the school expanded its classes to include eight grade by 1962. The kindergarten program was added in 1980 with pre-school following in 1988. The faculty and staff of Assumption see this ministry as a vocation and have continued to uphold the charism of the Dominican Sisters in three manners: to praise, to bless, and to teach.

Assumption is a fully accredited school by the WCEA and WASC. Assumption students score extremely well on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) as well as the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) tests. 8th grade students have consistently qualified for and received both the Ignatian Scholar and Father Arrupe Awards for top applicants to Gonzaga Preparatory School.

In 2014, Assumption Pre-school Program was recognized for achieving a Quality Level of Excellence in child care by Washington Early Achievers and in an independent review by the University of Washington, we have also been awarded recognition for exceptional work in the areas of Interactions and Environment and Family Engagement and Partnerships.
