In 1902, Santo Formica left Italy for America to start a bakery. His Italian bread became nationally acclaimed and is still used today to make the famous submarine sandwiches at Atlantic City Sub Shops.

Atlantic City Sub Shops was established in 1986 by Sonny Formica, Santo's grandson as an upscale Sub Shop. The decor is reminiscent of Atlantic City during its heyday in the 30's and 40's. Full size murals, boardwalk flooring and rolling chair style booths help create its unique ambiance.
