188 years ago the Medical Academy of Georgia was founded by the Medical Society of Augusta to address a need to train new physicians.

Most recently, in response to the needs of the community, our university changed to Augusta University in 2015. By adopting Augusta University as the brand for the health system, patients and their families, our community understands that the academic medical center advantage means better care and better outcomes.
