Welcome to some of the most pristine and historical waterways the south has to offer. This part of the county is called the low country and just a drive around will tell you why. Located minutes from Savannah, GA and Hilton Head, South Carolina you will find some of the most beautiful waterways in the county, lined with Cypress, Tupelo, and River Oak and yes Pine trees.
Backwater creeks feed lager waterways called rivers. They also may contain swap areas.
The backwater creeks hide some of nature’s most curious trees know as cypress. These wonders of nature can wow you with some most unique sites. Kind of like where is Waldo? Look into the knots that form on the trees and sometime you can make out images or look at a cypress knee and see gnomes and wizards.
If you never paddled a backwater creek you are in for a great expedition. Paddling backwater is no harder than paddling in a lake. Backwater has no real current, so paddling upstream is just as easy as paddling downstream. Experienced paddlers, birdwatchers and nature lovers are always excited upon their return.
