Backyard

We built Rookies with our industry family as a place for all sports-loving families to enjoy. It’s our baby—.
But because of space limitations and age restrictions, there were always a few things that we weren’t able to give our customers. We plan to change all that with our newest bar, Backyard: a new sports bar built right behind Rookies that caters only to a 21 and over crowd. Previously home to Verve Wine Bar, and light for life church. Backyard will be a loose extension of Rookies with its own dedicated entrance. We recently broke ground for the bar, and anticipate opening in early 2017.

With this new space, we’ll be able accommodate an additional 100+ South Seattle sports fans interested in watching Seahawks games and all other major sporting events—now also including sought-after pay per view boxing and MMA fights.
Backyard will feature a separate kitchen and menu focusing on slow- roasted barbeque, a mouth-watering variety of specialty house sides, pan pizzas, and baked pastas. The new menu was handcrafted by Rookies Executive Chef, Sam Doman, previously of John Howie Steak and Metropolitan Grill. We will also have an expanded tap list complete with wine on tap and a nitro handle!
Last but not least, our new bar will be able to host private events and be home to a pool table, darts, golden tee, a jukebox and nightly events.

In short, don’t think of Backyard as just an add-on to Rookies. Backyard is our homage to all 21+ Seattle sports fans. To us, it’s Rookies, all grown up.
