More about Bagdad Fire Rescue

The founding of Bagdad Fire Rescue started in 1962 with ten men. Dan Fowler became the first chief. Since the station hadn't been built just yet, Bagdad Elementary provided a meeting place for the members to discuss business and other issues. DOF provided the first fire truck which was kept at the chief’s house until needed. When a call was dispatched, the chief would get the truck and take it to the scene while the chief's wife would call each firefighter, until all personnel were notified. Three years later, in 1965 the fire house was built on donated land and the second truck was acquired through donation. Bagdad became a fire district in the 1970s with a budget of only $40,000. In 1975 a third truck was built. In 1984 the first pagers were given out and the station was expanded to provide housing for the forth truck which was bought brand new. In 1997 brand new fire gear and a fifth truck was bought. The people of Bagdad and facilities from all over the community helped to make Bagdad what it is today. BVFD consists of about 31 members of both genders, two class-A 1,000 gallon pumpers, an E-1 rescue truck, an E-1 brush attack truck, and a 17' 5" Aqua Sport boat. BVFD proudly serves Bagdad and all of the neighboring communities. We thank you for allowing us to provide service to you for over 50 years.
