More about Bailey AME Church

Bailey African Methodist Episcopal Church, Everett, WA is one of several thousand congregations in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean and on the continent of African that comprise the nation’s oldest African-American institution, the A.M.E. Church. The A.M.E. Church was founded in Philadelphia by Bishop Richard Allen in 1787.

Founded in 1903, Bailey A.M.E. Church, Everett, WA was established by African-Americans. From its inception and to this day, this congregation's mission is to minister to the spiritual, physical, emotional and intellectual needs of all people.

Bailey A.M.E. Church celebrates the diversity of all of God's people. We believe in the unity of all humankind through the liberating Gospel and love of Christ. Every soul is welcome! We embrace the motto of our forefathers and mothers: "God Our Father, Christ Our Redeemer, The Holy Spirit Our Comforter, Humankind our Family."

Bailey A.M.E. Church is a connectional fellowship of believers who have no creed but Christ, no book but the Bible, and wear no name but Christian. We believe that Christ is the Head of His Church, and therefore every Christian is a part of His body. We do not believe that we are the only Christians, but earnestly strive to be Christians only. We seek to speak where the Bible speaks, and remain silent where the Bible is silent. We take the Bible and the Bible alone, as our only rule of faith and practice. The original Church that we read about in the Bible was a church where salvation made you a member, so Bailey A.M.E. Church follows that pattern. We refuse to impose upon people more than the Word of God ask a Christian to be, nor require less than the Word states. Therefore, membership here requires that one accept the gracious gift of salvation by faith, which is belief in Jesus as the Son of God, repenting of sin, confessing Jesus as Lord, and being baptized.
