Balancing Stones

The name, Balancing Stones, originates from our observations of people who practice the art of balancing rocks or river stones in nature. Scores of artists have left their totems along creeks and riverbeds, beaches and forest pools. They find the center of gravity in each stone and match it to the rock below, often illogically on the smallest point possible. And yet, the stones remain standing.

This artist ritual reminds us of our own balancing acts in life: joy and sorrow, peace and chaos, comfort and hardship. Yet each new day gives promise and we are all encouraged to begin again, to rise up new and strong, to live moment upon moment, love upon love, dream upon dream.
Whether we are celebrating a day of union in marriage or memorializing a day of parting through death, or affirming new life with a baby, we are raising up monuments of the heart. As officiants and ministers, we are honored to be invited to guide and participate in these milestones of life with you.
