All dogs need to be trained, you owe it to them as their owner and pack leader. We have taken them from the wild and expect them to depend solely on us. They have no idea what is expected of them and what behavior is acceptable and what isn't.
When you learn to communicate with your dog, their life and yours becomes a whole lot easier.
All dogs need to know just where their place is in the home. They need a leader to look up to or the will become the leader. Without training, most dogs become dominant over their owners. If the owner does not determine that he will be the leader right from the start the dog will feel lost and confused. This will come out in frustration and behavior problems. Barking, digging, running way, chewing, even aggression.
Pack animals such as dogs can only exist and flourish in a social group which has clearly defined hierarchy. Think of it as a chain of command in the military.
Through obedience training you will show the dog that you are the master (pack leader) you are in control and what you say goes. Period! Your dog will learn this quickly and accept it. He will be a more secure dog and know where boundaries are in the household.
